About Us

MONITOR TRUST

MonitorTrust is an independent group of sustainability and natural resources management practitioners, scientists and thinkers, working at local, national and international scales. We undertake a wide range of activities to guide, assess and promote sustainable management practices in Africa and worldwide. We also support individuals and organisations in upgrading their knowledge, capacity, skills and potentialities, through our training, education and follow-up initiatives.

Area of intervention

We work with all communities, from the national (Cameroon) to the international level. We work in the following areas:

Sustainable management of natural resources

Sustainable management of the environment and natural resources is essential for reducing poverty in rural areas.

Social justice

Contemporary societies link justice to equality, which is inseparable from the realization of human rights. It is therefore incumbent upon us to ensure the equitable distribution and utilization of benefits and wealth among the members of rural societies.

Conflict management

We intervene in conflict management by finding common ground favorable to all stakeholders, because it must be recognized that conflict management is inherent in any system of resource use and is a sine qua non for sustainable, participatory and equitable management.

Forestry

Our forestry specialists have professional and technical expertise in the planning, development and management of a region’s forest resources.

Biodiversity

Our aim is to reconcile, through appropriate processes, the maintenance and restoration of nature’s richness with the freedom and dignity of human rights through active human-based care.

Preserving the environment

Protecting the environment means preserving the biodiversity we need. That’s why, once again, we’re bringing our expertise and our work to bear on the preservation of animal and plant species in the wild.
